After lunch and a siesta, we headed back out to the Pans. While most of the group chose to drive ATVs further out on the Pans, a few of us chose another game drive and were well rewarded.

We were excited about seeing another elephant, but our driver reminded us that our goal was to find a lion. All we had to do was look down – there was a lioness!

Our driver said her cubs probably weren’t far away, and then he spotted them off in the distance on the left side of our vehicle (three in all). These pictures show the lioness waking up, crossing in front of our vehicle and roaring for her cubs, and the cubs joining her for a happy reunion, along with a few photos of the beautiful sunset.

As evening approached, we headed back to the Pans to rejoin the rest of our group and enjoy a happy hour and dinner under the stars. The Camp Kalahari cooking staff prepared a wonderful meal on site.
