Botswana, South Africa & Zambia

A Birthday To Remember

For those who love exotic travel, a safari adventure is a must, and it’s especially memorable when you schedule your tour around your birthday. During my 12-day visit to Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, I saw many different animals and birds, including the Big Five, on our walking, river and driving safaris – and even outside my hotel room and camp tent! I visited Victoria Falls, Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope, took a helicopter sightseeing flight over the Okavango Delta and the Aerial Cableway up to Table Mountain, and enjoyed great food in a variety of settings, including on board the Royal Livingstone Express, on river cruises, out on the Makgadikgadi Pans, and at a chef’s home outside of Cape Town. To top it off, I had congenial traveling companions and a great tour director who secretly arranged a surprise birthday party for me!

I recommend starting at the beginning – Day 0 – Arrival in Livingstone – and following along (Day 0 was the day before the tour officially started). The top menu has links to more information on Zambia, Botswana and South Africa travel, while the side menu has links to each day on the tour and to photo galleries comprising the best of my almost 1400 photos taken during my travels through southern Africa. Enjoy!
